The Hearth app
Your records stay on your device
Everything you enter into Hearth, including the files you attach, is stored on your phone and encrypted there. The app works fully offline. There is no Hearth account and no Hearth server, so we never receive a copy of your information and can’t read, recover, or reset it.
Permissions the app may ask for
Hearth may ask for access to your camera and your files so you can photograph or attach documents, and it can use your phone’s fingerprint or face unlock. Android handles these permissions on your device. Nothing captured through them is sent to us.
Printing and sharing
If you print a recovery sheet or share an export, that goes where you send it, using your phone’s own print and share tools. We don’t see it and can’t control it afterward, so share it only with people you trust.
Backups
Hearth is set so that Android’s automatic cloud backup and device-to-device transfer do not copy its data. This is deliberate: your records should exist only where you put them.
If you lose access
Because we hold no copy of your data, we can’t help you get back in if you lose both your PIN and your recovery sheet. That is the trade-off for keeping everything private.
Purchases and Google Play
Hearth is sold through Google Play, which handles payment and the purchase itself. We don’t see your payment details. Google may also share anonymous crash and performance statistics with developers for people who have chosen to send them. That is controlled by Google and your Android settings, and it doesn’t include anything you’ve recorded in Hearth.
This website
This site is a static page. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads no third-party scripts, fonts, or trackers. It has no forms, accounts, or sign-ups.
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, it may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, browser type, and the pages requested, for security and operation. We don’t receive or use those logs. How GitHub handles them is described in GitHub’s privacy statement.
The “Get Hearth on Google Play” links take you to Google Play, which is covered by Google’s own policies, not this one.
Children
Hearth and this website are not directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we’ll post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. If a future version of Hearth changes how it handles data, this page will say so before that version is released.
